EXPLANATION OF LISTENING COMPREHENSION

PART III LISTENING COMPREHENSION

SECTION A STATEMENT

只要理解詞組make head (s) or tail (s) of …

stay up = sit up: 熬夜,不睡
nine times out of ten:

詞組nothing less than = nothing (little) short of 意思是“不亞于,不少于,同…

理解詞組“out of the question: 不可能,不值得考慮的” 是理解原文的關(guān)鍵。

prior to = before:在…
check into (a hotel, hospital):

run across = come across = fall across = run into = bump into = meet with = meet by chance:

答案為A。

詞組second to none = next to none:(口)不比任何人差,首屈一指,無與倫比

SECTION B CONVERSATION

in (at) one ear and out (at) the other: 左耳進(jìn)右耳出

persuade sb out of sth (doing sth) 相當(dāng)于 persuade sb not to do sth: 勸說某人放棄,不去做
反之: persuade sb into doing sth 或 persuade sb to do sth:連哄帶勸使某人干某事。

根據(jù)文中“ as it taxied down(飛機(jī)起飛前或降落后的滑行)”提示,答案應(yīng)為C。
