AMERICAN Idol will see its most dramatic episode yet as judge Katy Perry appears to collapse on the ground following an on-set gas leak.

The entire crew, cast and contestants of the talent show which kicked off season 18 last week had to be evacuated from their auditions in Sunriver, Oregon.

In a sneak peek ahead of Sunday's instalment, Katy along with her other judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryant are suddenly overcome with the smell of "propane" in the log cabin holding the auditions.

To which country crooner Luke, 43, tells the crew around them: "We're getting heavy propane."

Beginning to feel unwell, Katy adds: "I have a slight headache from it. Oh it’s bad, it’s really bad."

Soon emergency services rush to the studio as crew and contestants are evacuated from the building in a rush while fire alarms are heard going off around them.

As sirens flash in the background, Katy, 35, dramatically collapses to the ground after declaring: "I’m not feeling good."
