Ernest Hemingway's [-----1-----] had a tremendous impact on Modern Literature. As indicated by his former home near Havana, Cuba - Hemingway's [-----2-----] often competed with his writing. After being severely wounded in World War I, he became a foreign correspondent in Europe. He achieved fame in the late 1920s with two novels - The Sun Also Rises, and A Farewell to Arms, [-----3-----]. For Whom the Bell Tolls was equally stark about the political betrayals of the Spanish Civil War. And The Old Man and the Sea offered [-----4-----]. An avid hunter, Hemingway died of a self-inflicted shotgun wound in 1961.
