Lord Adonis to reveal high speed rail plans

阿多尼斯勛爵透露英國高鐵計劃


Details of a possible multi-billion pound high-speed rail line, featuring 250mph trains, will be announced later.A Government White Paper will outline the route and cost of a high-speed rail (HSR) line running from London to Birmingham.

此高鐵將貫穿倫敦和伯明翰，時速可達(dá)250英里，約耗資數(shù)十億英鎊。詳情將會在稍后公布。英國政府將出臺白皮書對這條高鐵的路線和架設(shè)成本做出規(guī)劃。


Transport Secretary Lord Adonis will publish the Government's views on how HSR can be extended north of Birmingham into north England and Scotland.

關(guān)于高鐵將如何從伯明翰北部通往英格蘭北部和蘇格蘭，運輸局局長阿多尼斯勛爵將公開政府的計劃，


He is expected to announce that 1,100 seater HSR trains will arrive and depart from a new London station, with the train route expected to pass through the picturesque Chiltern Hills to Birmingham.

預(yù)計倫敦將會為這條高鐵建立一個新車站。還有就是，這條高鐵可能會經(jīng)過風(fēng)景秀麗的奇爾特恩丘陵，然后進(jìn)入伯明翰。


If the White Paper is passed through the Houses of Parliament, work will not start until 2017 at the earliest. The London to Birmingham line is unlikely to open before the end of 2025.

如果議會通過白皮書，這項工程最早也要2017年開始動工。倫敦到伯明翰航線不大會在2025年之前開放。


Initially there would be 14 trains on the line per hour, and that could be raised to 18 per hour if the northern section is completed too.

原本這條航線上每小時有14趟車，等到這項工程竣工之后，將會達(dá)到每小時18趟。


All three major parties are committed in principle to the idea of HSR but the Conservatives turned down an offer to view the Government plans before Thursday's announcement.

三大政黨都在原則上支持這項高鐵建設(shè)計劃，但是在周四公布結(jié)果之前，保守黨拒絕參與這項政府計劃的討論。
