(a)動(dòng)詞后面加able,以e結(jié)尾的動(dòng)詞則去e加able,表示具有此性質(zhì),特點(diǎn)或?qū)傩? 例如:

afford-affordable;

love-lovable;


(b)動(dòng)詞變化為其分詞形式,例如:

  • 加ing

當(dāng)這類(lèi)動(dòng)詞加上ing時(shí),表示的是事物的一個(gè)特征,可以翻譯為“令人……的“

  • 加ed

此時(shí)表示事物受到特定刺激后的一種感受,可以翻譯為”感到……的“”受到……的“

1. amaze: v. 使大為驚奇
amazing:adj. 令人驚詫的,驚人的;令人驚喜的 It's amazing that no one else has applied for the job.竟然沒(méi)有其他人去應(yīng)聘這項(xiàng)工作,真讓人驚詫。
amazed:adj. 十分驚奇的,驚愕的 She was amazed at how calm she felt after the accident. 事故發(fā)生后她是如此鎮(zhèn)定,這讓她自己都覺(jué)得驚奇。


2. annoy: v. 煩擾,打攪,使煩惱
annoying:adj. 討厭的,惱人的 It's really annoying when a train is late and there's no explanation. 火車(chē)誤點(diǎn)而又不作任何解釋?zhuān)@很令人惱火。
annoyed:生氣的,煩惱的 I was so annoyed with him for turning up late. 他姍姍來(lái)遲,我很生氣


3. astonish:v. 使吃驚;使驚訝
astonishing:adj. 令人驚訝的;驚人的 Her first novel enjoyed an astonishing success. 她的第一部小說(shuō)取得了驚人的成功。
astonished:adj. 感到震驚的;覺(jué)得驚駭?shù)?I was astonished to see Miriam there. 我很吃驚地發(fā)現(xiàn)米里亞姆竟然在那兒。


4. confuse:v. 使困惑,使糊涂;使混亂
confusing:adj. 令人困惑的; The instructions are really confusing. Could you help me with them, please? 這些使用說(shuō)明太讓人費(fèi)解了。你能幫我看一下嗎?
confused:adj. 感到困惑的 I'm a bit confused. Was that her husband or her son she was with? 我有些糊涂。跟她在一起的是她丈夫還是她兒子?


5. convince:v. 使某人信服;
convincing:adj. 令人信服的; The end of the book wasn't very convincing. 我覺(jué)得電影的結(jié)局難以令人信服。
convinced:adj. 感到信服的 I'm convinced (that) she is lying. 我確信她在撒謊。


6. delight:v. 使某人高興;
delighting(delightful):adj. 愉快的;吸引人的;有趣的 Our new neighbours are delightful. 我們的新鄰居很有趣。
delighted:感到高興的 I was delighted at/by your news. 你帶來(lái)的消息讓我很高興。


7. depress:v. 使憂郁,使沮喪
depressing:adj. 令人低落(沮喪)的; This weather is so depressing. 我發(fā)現(xiàn)這樣的天氣讓人感到十分壓抑。
depressed:感到沮喪的 He seemed a bit depressed about his work situation. 他似乎對(duì)自己的工作狀況有些沮喪。


8. disappoint: v. 使某人失望;
disappointing: adj. 令人失望的; The response to our advertisement has been somewhat disappointing. 人們對(duì)我們這個(gè)廣告的反應(yīng)有些令人失望。
disappointed:adj. 感到失望的 We were deeply disappointed at/about the result. 我們對(duì)這個(gè)結(jié)果深感失望。


9. discourage:v. 使某人泄氣;
discouraging:adj. 令人泄氣的;
discouraged:adj. 感到泄氣的 I think he felt discouraged because of all the criticism he'd received. 我覺(jué)得他挨了那么多批評(píng)已經(jīng)心灰意冷了。


10. disgust:v. 使人厭惡;
disgusting:adj. 令人厭惡的; Passengers were kept for three hours in a disgusting waiting room. 乘客被迫在令人厭惡的候車(chē)室里等了好幾個(gè)小時(shí)。
disgusted:adj. 反感的,厭惡的,憎惡的 She was disgusted at the way they treated their children.


11. embarrass:v. 使人尷尬;
embarrassing:adj. 令人尷尬的; It's embarrassing to be caught telling a lie. 說(shuō)謊被人當(dāng)場(chǎng)識(shí)破是件很尷尬的事情。
embarrassed:adj. 感到尷尬的 She felt embarrassed about undressing in front of the doctor. 在醫(yī)生面前脫衣服讓她覺(jué)得很尷尬。


12. encourage:v. 使有勇氣;
encouraging:adj. 令人鼓舞的; There was a lot of positive feedback, which was very encouraging. 正面的反饋信息紛至沓來(lái),非常振奮人心。
encouraged:adj. 感到鼓舞的 She felt encouraged by their promise of support. 他們承諾支持她,這使她感到備受鼓舞。
