It takes the computer only a few seconds to confirm the reservation.

投資人擔心工期過長。你說,最長用不了一年就完工了:

It won't take more than a year to finish it.

大家都羨慕他今日的成就。你說,他花了十年才成為有名的鋼琴家:

It took him ten years to become a famous pianist.

你到機場去送朋友,讓他保重。你說,飛機要飛十多個小時的:

The flight will take you more than ten hours.

機器壞了,而你又急著用。就問機械師,要很久才能修好嗎:

Will it take long for you to repair the machine?

他決定離開自己從事多年的教師職業(yè)去經(jīng)商。他說,他用了很長時間才打定主意:

It took me a long time to make up my mind.

注:

在這里take 意為做某事花費多少時間,同樣有時用spend, cost也表示花費時間。區(qū)別是:
take和cost表示人們?yōu)椴辉敢庾龌虿坏貌蛔龅氖露盎ㄙM”時間,而spend暗含所做的事“花去”時間是應(yīng)該的,愿意的。
It took me an hour to find you.(無奈的情緒)
She spends 10 hours playing the piano.(喜歡彈琴,勤學(xué)苦練,一練就是10小時)
如果說It took her hours to play the piano. 則意為:由于難,內(nèi)容多,不得不用上10小時。

famous adj. 有名的,著名的。這個詞相對意義的詞為:unknown 不知名的
infamous 意為:聲名狼藉的,臭名昭著的
