木匠兄妹由著名的歌星卡朋特與她哥哥理查德·卡朋特組成，卡倫·卡朋特1950年生于美國康耐狄格州，從小在哥哥的影響下學(xué)習(xí)樂器，成了一名鼓手，大她三歲的哥哥理查德是個(gè)非常有才華的青年，擔(dān)任鋼琴伴奏和制作人，并創(chuàng)作了大量歌曲。后來在著名經(jīng)紀(jì)人德紐文的幫助下，進(jìn)入了美國流行樂壇。1970年一曲《靠近你》(CloseToYou)榮登排行榜首，這使木匠兄妹一炮走紅，70年代中他們不斷有佳作問世，成為無數(shù)美國青年的偶像，尼克松總統(tǒng)稱卡朋特兄妹是最出色的美國青年。
