男人們玩撲克牌，三個女人也想加入，男人們猶豫著答應(yīng)了。女人們初學(xué)乍練輸?shù)舻谝痪?，想再玩一次?/p>

Chandler:(teaching) OK, so now we draw cards.

Monica:So I wouldn't need any, right? Cause I have a straight.

Rachel:Oh, good for you!

Phoebe: Congratulations!

(Microwave timer goes off. Monica gets up.)

Chandler:OK Phoebs, how many do you want?

Phoebe:OK, I just need two... the, um, ten of spades and the six of clubs.

Ross:No. No, uh, Phoebs? You can't—you can't do...

Rachel: Oh wait, I have the ten of spades! Here! (gives it to Phoebe)

Ross:No, no. Uh... no, see, uh, you-you can't do that.

Rachel:Oh, no-no-no-no-no-no, that's OK, I don't need them. I'm going for fours.

Ross:Oh, you're... (gives up)

(Monica comes back to the table with plates of food.)

Monica:Alright, here we go. We've got salmon roulettes and assorted crudites.

Phoebe and Rachel:OOooooo!

Joey: Whoa, whoa, whoa, Monica, what're you doin'? This is a poker game. You can't serve food with more than one syllable. It's gotta be like chips, or dip, or pretz...(look of realization)

Chandler:(changing subject) OK, so at this point, the dealer...

Monica:Alright, you know, we got it, we got it. Let's play for real. High stakes... big bucks...

Ross: Alright, now, you sure? Phoebe just threw away two jacks because they didn't look happy...

Phoebe: But... I'm ready, so, just deal.

Chandler:OK, alright, last minute lesson, last minute lesson. (holds up two cards) Joey... three... eight. Eight... three. (Joey is unamused) Alright babe, deal the cards.

(Time lapse.)

Monica: (throws down her cards) Dammit, dammit, dammit!

Phoebe: (to Joey): Oh I see, so then, you were lying.

Joey:About what?

Phoebe:About how good your cards were.

Joey:Heh... I was bluffing.

Phoebe:A-ha! And... what is bluffing? Is it not another word for... lying?

Rachel:OK, sorry to break up this party, but I've got resumes to fax before work tomorrow... (gets up to leave)

Guys:Whoa, whoa, whoa!

Chandler:Rach, Rach, we gotta settle.

Rachel:Settle what?

Chandler:The... Jamestown colony of Virginia. You see, King George is giving us the land, so...

Ross:The game, Rachel, the game. You owe us money for the game.

Rachel:Oh. Right.

Joey:You know what, you guys? It's their first time, why don't we just forget about the money, alright?

Monica:Hell no, we'll pay!

Phoebe:OK, Monica? I had another answer all ready.

Monica:And you know what? We want a rematch.

Ross: Well that's fine with me. Could use the money.

Rachel:(to Ross): So basically, you get your ya-yas by taking money from all of your friends.

Ross:(pause)...Yeah.

Chandler:Yes, and I get my ya-yas from Ikea. You have to put them together yourself, but they cost a little less.

Ross:Look, Rachel, this is poker. I play to win, alright? In order for me to win, other people have to lose. So if you're gonna play poker with me, don't expect me to be a 'nice guy,' OK? Cause once those cards are dealt... (claps hands three times)

Joey:(pause)...Yeah?

Ross: I'm not a nice guy.

shuffle：本意是指調(diào)換順序，這里調(diào)換牌的順序，也就是“洗牌”。

cut：切牌。作弊的時候常用一招“假切牌”，看起來好像切了，實(shí)際上沒有改過牌的位置。這在英語中稱為“False Cut”，和假牙的“假”用的是同一個False。

Deal：發(fā)牌。Deal sb. Out原來是指發(fā)牌的時候跳過某人，引申為“排擠在外”的意思。另外，很多人在談判最后打成共識，要喊“成交”的時候也是叫“Deal”。這里的Deal同樣是從發(fā)牌的意思過來的。牌局開始之前玩家要討論規(guī)則和賭注，一切商定之后就“deal”，發(fā)牌了…

Draw：摸牌。Touch這個“摸”更多是強(qiáng)調(diào)“接觸一下”，而摸牌的這個“摸”具有粘滯性，是“摸進(jìn)”的意思，英語中說成“Draw”。大家應(yīng)該都記得，“抽屜”的英文是drawer，其中draw就是“抽，拉”的意思?！懊M(jìn)”牌和“拉”抽屜一樣，都是把物體向自己的方向牽動。

Sort：整理，理牌。

Play：打出。Play …card就是“打出…牌”。比如，play a strategy card，打出一張錦囊牌…這個詞組還可以引申為“使用…招數(shù)”的意思。小孩子吵架的時候，最看不起的就是有人“Play the parent card”，打不過別人回去搬家長出來當(dāng)救兵…

discard：棄牌。Dis-這個前綴表示否定，dis-card，否掉一張牌，就是丟棄不要的意思…

full house，flush同花，straight順子

flush的意思是“同花”，或者說是麻將里的“清一色”。撲克牌中五張花色相同、大小沒有規(guī)律的牌的組合就是Flush，F(xiàn)lush的大小看其中最大的一張牌。比如Ace-high Flush就是Ace最大的同花組合。中文里好像稱為“垃圾”，因?yàn)檫@種組合沒有任何順序。Flush本身的意思就是“沖水”，用完廁所后必做的工作?！袄睂Α皼_掉”，還是很匹配的。

straight最基本的解釋是“連續(xù)的”。比如straight wins 就是“連勝”。撲克牌中大小連續(xù)的牌，就是順子。把兩個詞連起來，得到同花順，就是straigh flush…

full house前文已經(jīng)提到過，指3個跟一對的牌型。一行三，就是threes full

三個一樣的：three of a kind，也可以叫set或者trip。

一對：pair

零牌：unmatched cards

?“炸彈”怎么說？英語中只是把炸彈稱為“四張一樣的牌”，F(xiàn)our of a kind. 4炸彈，就是Four of fours…，也有地方叫成quads。

撲克牌中大小一樣叫of the same rank, 花色一樣叫of the same suit, 都一樣叫做…same

炸彈有時可以單掛一張廢牌，這個廢牌叫做kicker，或者side card。

trump 王花色牌。橋牌和八十分里面都要在四個花色里面指定一個花色為Trump(王)，比其他花色都大。如果這一圈出草花，一名玩家草花牌已經(jīng)絕掉(Void)，就可以用一張王牌進(jìn)行阻截。特別強(qiáng)調(diào)，王trump和王牌(Ace)是不一樣的。Ace就是指A，只有一張，一支隊伍的王牌一般也只有一個。Trump這個王是指一個花色，有13張之多。trump這個詞還可以做動詞用，表示defeat，勝過，打敗。例如：To boys, a hot date trumps buddies. 對于男生來說，熱辣的約會對象比兄弟重要…Love trumps all. 愛可以戰(zhàn)勝一切。

摸牌階段，玩家可以bid(叫牌)決定這一輪王的花色。如果玩家手上方塊牌多，就可以扔出一張方塊2，bid方塊為王。對手可以用兩張別的花色的2，比如一對草花2，來overbid(造反)，改定草花為王。做莊的人叫做trumpmaker，底牌叫做kitty。

Joker怪。這個詞本身是“小丑”的意思。撲克牌中是最大的鬼牌。撲克牌本身是歐洲人的作品，只有這兩張牌是美國人的貢獻(xiàn)。大怪叫Red Joker，小怪叫Black Joker。有些游戲中規(guī)定鬼牌是“百搭”，可以當(dāng)作任意牌打出，這在英語中稱為“wild card”。

hit/miss，摸到想摸的牌，湊成自己想做的牌，比如一副炸彈，叫hit。如果摸到一張廢牌，就是miss

trick一圈，出一輪牌叫一個trick。

Void絕牌，沒有(一門花色)。

house rules撲克牌的規(guī)則在各個地方都有差別，玩家常常會在玩牌前先確定規(guī)則。某一個俱樂部或某一組牌友打牌時的特定規(guī)則稱為house rules

card counting算牌

cheating作弊。作弊高手叫cardshark，=中文的老千。
