3. Taylor Swift became the first woman to win album of the year twice. Swift took the opportunity to encourage young women while possibly taking a jab at Kanye West’s recent song "Famous."
“There are going be people along the way who try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame,” she said. “But if you just focus on the work, and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you’ll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there.” She also thanked her fans, the Recording Academy and her co-executive producer Max Martin, who she said had deserved the recognition for 25 years.“
4. Fresh off their Super Bowl 50 performance, Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars won for record of the year for Uptown Funk. They paid homage to previous musicians for their funk-inspired record such as George Clinton, James Brown, Prince, and others. Mars closed their speech with, “This is dedicated to the fans, we wouldn’t be up here if it wasn’t for the people, thank you.”
