never在這里提到了be動(dòng)詞之前,更加地強(qiáng)調(diào),沒有例外。

drive at指一方?jīng)]有明說或者沒有說,而另一方懂得他的意思。即暗示。

e.g.: It was clear that John didn’t understand what Tom was driving at.

要是搞不懂別人老在暗示I can’t guess what you’re driving at.你對我有啥意思沒有?

暗示還有其他的一些表達(dá),我們來對比一下:

Should I drop a hint to Matt? 這里drop a hint 表示透露一點(diǎn),放口風(fēng)。動(dòng)詞詞組,表隱含的是名詞,hint。

Mr. Thomas has indicated that he may resign. 這里的indicate意指不直白表達(dá),拐外抹角地說。

What did she imply in her words? 這里imply是暗含,暗語。

后兩個(gè)是動(dòng)詞表隱含。drive at 是固定動(dòng)詞搭配。

此處weeping & frowning 雖然兩個(gè)詞都是v-ing 形式,但前者是動(dòng)名詞而后者則是動(dòng)詞的現(xiàn)在分詞。動(dòng)名詞顧名思義是名詞,只是由動(dòng)作演化過來的。而動(dòng)詞分詞則是動(dòng)詞的變化形式,或者帶有形容詞性質(zhì)表示人或事物的狀態(tài)。
