Fox co-chairman Tom Rothman seems interested in a third "X-Files" movie. There’s been talk about a third movie that covers the 2012 mythology of "The X-Files" and the alien colonization, but in the interview, Rothman says, "It’s really up to Chris [Carter], David [Duchovny], and Gillian [Anderson]. As for the mediocre reception to the second movie, Rothman responds this way: "…that was the film Chris wanted to do. He was determined to do a stand alone film, a film that wasn’t dependent upon the mythology. His interest in making the movie, was in the characters and in their relationship, not the mythology."
