"The Blacklist" is taking a good-sized break in the middle of its second season before relaunching on Thursday nights in early 2015.

"To do a show like this, which is an enormous production, is going to take eight or nine days [of filming]," NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said Sunday (July 13) at the TV critics' summer press tour. "... If you just do the math, you run out of time to make the show and have post-production time for it. Delivering eight or nine episodes in any fall is really difficult."

After nine episodes in the fall, "The Blacklist" will leave its Monday-night home for two and a half months. It will rejoin the NBC schedule in a big way, following the Super Bowl on Feb. 1, 2015, and moving to its new home at 9 p.m. ET/PT Thursdays on Feb. 5

Season 2 of "The Blacklist" is set to premiere Sept. 22.
