FOX has picked up three of its Tuesday-night comedies -- "New Girl," "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and "The Mindy Project" -- for next season, along with drama "The Following."

Three of the four pickups seemed fairly likely: Ratings for "The Following" have been down some this season but it remains a solid performer, and "New Girl" and "Brooklyn" are the network's two top live-action comedies. The "Mindy" renewal is a mild surprise as its ratings are somewhat lower, and it's been on hiatus since January, with a return set for April 1.

The four shows join the already renewed "Bones," "Glee" and "Sleepy Hollow" on FOX's schedule for next season. The network also has made series commitments to several new shows, including dramas "Gotham" and "Backstrom" and comedies "Mulaney" and "Cabot College," for 2014-15.
