The 64th Berlin International Film Festival is underway. And this year, out of over 400 films from 72 countries and regions, a total of 12 Chinese movies are participating in the competition and the screenings.
Three films from the Chinese mainland have entered the main competition section, competing with 20 films for the Golden and Silver Bear awards. They are "No Man’s Land" or "Wu Ren Qu", "Tui Na" and "Bai Ri Yan Huo." What’s more, Hong Kong actor Tony Leung is a member of the jury panel headed by James Schamus.
This year’s Berlinale opened with Wes Anderson’s star-studded film "The Grand Budapest Hotel," which is also competing for the award. As one of the three biggest film festivals in Europe, the Berlin Film Festival has earned a reputation for encouraging innovation in film making.
