背景介紹:

--十八屆三中全會(huì)關(guān)于全面深化改革的若干重大問(wèn)題的決定

The decisions made by The Third Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist have undoubtedly given us a surprise, and among them the change of China's birth control policy, which allows a couple with one of them is the only child to give birth to two children, is being ardently discussed.

話題:

1. What is your opinion of this change?
2. Are your the only child of your family?
If you are, do you want a brother or sister? Why?
If not, what's your feeling of having a brother or sister?

范例1:

To promote the long and balanced development of nation population, the third Plenum of the Communist Party, which is seen as a new milestone of China's profound reform process since the 1980s, announced that urban people can now have a legal second child if just one of the would-be parents was an only child. The only child of my family as I am, the relaxation of the once extremely rigorous family planning policy surely arouses a certain sentiment.
Claimed as an merit, the parents' non-lossy love for children now to me looks like a payment for the responsiblities the "only" children are to face when we become adults, and they would weigh much heavier with the expansion of inflation and the gradual appearance of effects on health caused by environment pollution. Meanwhile, I am amazed at the provoking fact that many people, including many of my relatives and parents of classmates were eager to raise a second child despite of the very risk of getting punishment. To be honest, I also long for a brother or sister, and such a desire gets enforced whenever I see an innocent little boy or girl. To me it is not only a steadfast anchor but also a willingly accepted responsibility.

范例2:

China’s family planning policy is to be eased at long last. Chinese couples with one spouse being an only child would be permitted to have two children. Compared with the past overriding policy that required most families to have only one child, I believe that a relaxed population policy is a manifestation of greater respect. And it is likely to relieve the pressure of low fertility rate and maintain the labor resources. What’s more, from children’s point of view, nowadays children tend to have a feeling of lonely as most of them is the only child in the family. Allowing the second baby would, to some extent, create a better environment for children’s growth because two children can take care of each other. And I don’t think there will be a population explosion due to the constraints of income, housing, people’s belief and so on.
