It's still kind of awkward to remember while watching Damon and Elena make out on "The Vampire Diaries" that Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev are broken-up in real life. So when they won the People's Choice Award for Favorite On-Screen Chemistry -- and went on stage to accept it together -- that awkward feeling increased tenfold.

Luckily these two are seasoned pros -- and are clearly still amicable in real life -- as they acknowledged the aforementioned awkwardness in a clever (note: pre-written) speech recounting their characters' journey together -- and their own.

After some obstacles, they finally got together on the show and in real life. "And then we broke up in real life," says Nina. "And yet our characters are still dating on the show," notes Ian.
