He's got three boys of his own, but David Beckham thinks his first name is better suited to the royal baby.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their first child any day now and not only does the ex-footballer think they will make 'amazing parents' but he'd love it if the little one was given the name David. Speaking to Sky News, the 38-year old said: 'David's pretty good ... if it's a boy of course.'

David and his popstar-turned-fashion designer wife Victoria Beckham attended the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011, and have since been supportive of the couples' first steps towards parenthood.

'They're going to be amazing parents because they are so loving towards children,' Beckham said.

‘We've seen William grow from that young boy into an unbelievable gentleman. And that as a father is really important.'
