One microblog made many people reacquaint” National Sheet”. Hoping the fad for ” National Sheet” is not just nostalgia for a moment.

The earbud, the pussycat and the peony

Once upon a time (well, actually, only a few weeks ago) there was a bad pussycat who chewed through the wire of his master’s Apple earbuds. The master was very angry at the pussycat and decided to tell the world about this terrible tragedy. He posted a picture of the damaged earbud online to show everyone what a bad thing the pussycat had done.

To his surprise, no one cared about the bad pussycat or the tragic fate of the earbud. They were more interested in the background of the photo. The earbud was resting on an old-fashioned peony-patterned bed sheet. People recognized it as the same kind of bed sheet they had slept on as children. It was the same kind of bed sheet that their grandparents might still be using: big, bright, pink peonies on a solid colored background. The online photo produced a wave of nostalgia as people remembered feeling warm, cozy and safe wrapped in these bed sheets as they drifted off into their childhood dreams.

The bed sheet also reminded people of a time when many items produced in Shanghai, although limited in choice, were low-priced and of very high quality and the designs were uniquely Chinese. Today, sadly, many of the companies that produced these items are out of business.

There is now a fad for nostalgia as people try to recapture the good memories of the past, but fads, by definition, are passing things. We can’t always live in yesterday, but for a moment at least; we can thank the earbud, the pussycat and the peony for coming together and giving people a warm feeling.
