The renovated and enlarged National Museum of China, located to the east of Tian'anmen Square in central Beijing, officially opened to the public on Thursday. After a year of trial operation, the National Museum has received more than 4 million visitors. Already, the renovated space has become the new icon and major destination for visitors to the Chinese capital.
修繕和擴大的中國國家博物館坐落在北京中心,星期四它正式向公眾開放。在一年的試運行之后,國家博物館接待了400多萬名游客。這個修繕的地方已經(jīng)成為新的圖標(biāo)以及到中國首都的游客的主要目的地。

The National Museum? 200 thousand square meters, making it the largest museum in the world. It houses more than 1.2 million cultural relics and artworks, and contains 48 large exhibition halls, a theatre, a conference hall and a broadcasting studio.
中國國家博物館占地面積近20萬平方米,使之成為世界上最大的博物館。這里收藏了120多萬件文化遺產(chǎn)和藝術(shù)品,包括48個大展廳、一個戲院、一個會議廳和一個播音室。

Over the past year, the museum has held more than 50 large-scale exhibitions, organized academic seminars and symposiums on arts and cultural heritage, and received more than 4.1 million visitors.
過去一年,博物館舉辦了50多長大型展覽會,組織了藝術(shù)和文化遺產(chǎn)方面的學(xué)術(shù)研討會和討論會,接待了410多萬名游客。

Lu Zhangshen, the curator of National Museum of China, said," The collections in the museum are classics. There are more than 60 thousand jade articles, porcelains, calligraphy and paintings, as well as bronze Buddha statues. These will all be gradually opened to the public."

To help visitors find their way through its four floors above ground and two underground floors, the museum offers handheld audio guides, touch screens, and free guide software for mobile phones.
為了幫助游客找到地上四層和地下兩層的路,博物館提供了掌上語音導(dǎo)游、觸屏和免費的手機導(dǎo)航軟件。

Huang Chen, the director of education of National Museum of China, said," The audio guide contains 20-hours of information, covering nearly one thousand relics. There are Chinese and English versions."

The National Museum was established in 2003 by the merging of the two separate museums that had occupied the same building since 1959: the Museum of the Chinese Revolution in the north wing and the National Museum of Chinese History in the southern wing. Nowadays, the museum has become a calling card for China and symbol of national pride.
國家博物館建于2003年,是北側(cè)的中國革命博物館和南側(cè)中國歷史博物館兩個獨立博物館合并而成,這兩個博物館自1959年以來占據(jù)同一建筑物?,F(xiàn)在,博物館已經(jīng)成為中國的名片和民族驕傲的象征。
