September 23th, 1964 - Chagall's Ceiling is unveiled.
Russian-born painter Marc Chagall executed many impressive public works in his later years, such as his [-----1-----] to Dag Hammarskj?ld in the UN building. On September 23, 1964, the Paris Opera House unveiled a stunning new ceiling painted as a gift to France by Chagall, who spent much of his life there. [-----2-----] also marked a later exposition of mosaics by Chagall in Cairo, Egypt. Much like Picasso and Cassals, Chagall continued to work [-----3-----] until his death at the age of 97. His Russian soul and Jewish heritage stirred a love for peasant and biblical themes. Art, he claimed, [-----4-----].
