US Vice President Joe Biden has arrived at Beijing International Airport. It's his first visit to China as vice president. He was welcomed by Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and US Ambassador to China Gary Locke. Biden will meet with Vice President Xi Jinping and top legislator Wu Bangguo this evening. Tomorrow, Biden will meet with President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao as well as Chinese business leaders. And on Friday, he'll meet with staff of the US Embassy. On Saturday, he'll travel to Sichuan Province to deliver a keynote speech at Sichuan University. Also, he'll visit a high school that was rebuilt after being damaged in the Wenchuan earthquake. The White House said Biden's trip aims to boost Chinese investors' confidence in the US economy. Meanwhile, the US Treasury Department says Biden will again push for an appreciation of the yuan, though the US admits it has already seen a change in the exchange rate.
