This is her third nomination, but unfortunately it won't prove lucky. As amazing as she is in "The Fighter", her co-star's flashier role will most likely garner more votes. She's been nominated frequently during the awards season, but hasn't won a major precursor. Having said that, Melissa Leo is facing a bit of a backlash, and if the Academy wants to reward the movie, Adams could be the lucky recipient of that.

Even though she's won the BAFTA and the ensemble cast at this year's SAGs, she's not considered a frontrunner. However, if "The King's Speech" steamrolls the competition that night, her performance might earn her a train ride to the podium.

Long heralded the "one to beat" in this category, Leo has won practically every precursor including the Golden Globes, SAGs, Broadcast Film Awards and New York Film Critics to name a few. It looked like she was unstoppable... that is until those tacky "For Your Consideration" ads she paid for by herself. Reportedly, a few Academy voters were completely turned off by them and have publicly said Leo has lost their votes.

Now that Melissa Leo has opened the door to the other four ladies, Steinfeld is considered the most likely to upset in this category. If she does, she'll be the third youngest Oscar supporting actress winner ever. Tatum O'Neal was 10 in "Paper Moon" and Anna Paquin was 11 when she won for "The Piano".
