Former president Jimmy Carter has arrived in Washington after spending a couple of nights in Ohio hospital. He had been complaining of an upset stomach, but left after hospital official said an infection had cleared up.

There appears to be a shake-up for the White House. President Barack Obama is said to make a personnel announcement on Friday. It's widely expected the Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, will be leaving to run for mayor of Chicago.

The rescue effort is speeding up in Chile, where 33 miners remain trapped underground. There has been a surge in drilling by rescue crews. And there are hopes the men could be back on the surface in a matter of weeks.

Alberto Contador is blaming on the food he ate. The reigning Tour de France champion has admitted to testing positive for a banned substance during the three-week race. However, he says it's all because of some meat he had.
