BP’s “top kill” operation is underway. The company says it’s trying to seal the blown-out oil well in the Gulf of Mexico, by pumping heavy mud into it. Company officials say it could be a couple of days before they know whether it’s working.

After three days of street battles, Jamaican security forces have a tenuous hold on a slum that’s the stronghold of an alleged cocaine trafficker wanted in the U.S. But at least 44 civilians have been killed, the suspect Christopher Coke is still at large.

Art Linkletter, a popular TV host in the 1950s and 60s has died, he was 97 years old. Linkletter was known on TV for his funny interviews with children and ordinary folks.

A horde of millions of frogs forced Greek officials to shut down the major highway for several hours. Authorities say the frogs probably left a nearby lake to look for food.
