前陣子小編剛和大家說起了“杠桿女”和“經(jīng)濟適用男”的概念(請看娶妻當娶“杠桿女” 嫁人要嫁“經(jīng)濟適用男”>>>),今天我們就來說說“剩女”吧。

說到“剩女”,似乎就是這幾年間才冒出來的詞兒,但是已經(jīng)被大家廣泛接受。 指的是一些擁有高學(xué)歷、高收入、高智商、長相也無可挑剔的女性,由于擇偶要求比較高,導(dǎo)致在婚姻上得不到理想歸宿,而變成“剩女”的大齡女青年。

這些“三高女”在日本也被稱作“3S女”,即“Single(單身)、Seventies(大多數(shù)生于上世紀七十年)、Stuck(被卡住了)”。(小編:其實這里的Seventies過幾年后就要改成Eighties了吧……)

今天我們來看看“剩女”的英文怎么說吧。

Leftover ladies” , or shengnü in Chinese, has become a buzzword in the Chinese language. They are well-educated, well-paid and independent. They are also referred to as “3S women:” single, seventies (most were born in the 70s) and stuck.

上句中的“Leftover ladies”就是“剩女”的英語說法?!發(fā)eftover”這個詞可沒有什么積極的意思,表示“剩貨,殘留物,剩飯”等。比如說:She threw the leftovers in the garbage. (她把剩飯倒進垃圾桶。)

另外,我們也可以用“on the shelf”來形容“剩女”。

When we put something on the shelf, it means we plan to delay the time to do it. However, if those, especially women, are on the shelf, they are not married and people now believe they are too old to get married.

我們常常形容一個計劃或者一件事情推遲被執(zhí)行,叫做put it on the shelf。on the shelf 也用來形容那些還沒有結(jié)婚的女性,她們通常是因為年紀太大而被認為不容易嫁出去。
