Rumer出生于巴基斯坦，在澳大利亞長大，本名Sarah Joyce，Rumer這個(gè)名字是對(duì)作家Rumer Godden的致敬。她的聲音溫婉緩慢，歌中彌漫著甜美慵懶的氣息.小時(shí)候，由于父親工作的關(guān)系，一家人住在外籍社區(qū)里，不與外界接觸，過著田園詩一般的生活。Rumer曾做過清潔工、廣告銷售和教師；她修過iPod，賣過筆記本電腦，還在電影院賣過爆米花。想過放棄么？“每天都想！但是我做不到。我一直堅(jiān)持我的音樂很棒并且值得分享。”所以，Rumer堅(jiān)持了下來，并一直等待著適合自己的制作人。
