Damien, the Omen-inspired horror television series from A&E, has been canceled.

Showrunner Glen Mazzara announced the show's cancellation on Twitter (via Variety), saying, "This hurts to say but Damien will not be getting a second season. Thank you from all of us to our amazing fans."

In addition to executive producing Damien, Mazzara, who formerly worked on AMC's The Walking Dead, wrote the show.

Despite Damien's cancelation, fans of The Omen still have something to look forward to, as Fox is developing a prequel film to the 1976 horror classic.
