Brazil boasts the largest population of Catholics in the world at 73.6% of its population. Known as the “Black Madonna,” Nossa Senhora de Aparecida (Our Lady of Aparecida) is a celebrated 18th century clay statue of the Virgin Mary and is considered the patron saint of Brazil.
