Where Am I?

置身何處

After a person died, he went to a beautiful place. The person at the gate looked at his ID card and then brought him to a very beautiful villa with lakes, flowers and everything surrounding it, a big garden, birds singing, dogs barking, ducks quacking. Everything was perfect. After a while, someone else took him to another place so that he could have more enjoying with delicacies like cakes, candies, blessed food, and all the beautiful international cooking for him to sample. After that, they took him out to maybe a night club, so that he could see the dancing or dance himself.

有個人死后，去到一個很漂亮的地方。然后有人在大門口看看他的證件，帶他到一間很漂亮的別墅，有湖泊圍繞，有花團錦簇，還有個大花園，鳥兒啾啾，小狗汪汪叫，鴨子嘎嘎叫，一切都很完美。過一會兒，又有人帶他到另一個地方，讓他飽享美食佳肴——糕點、糖果、祝福的食品等，世界各地好吃的菜肴都讓他品嘗。然后又帶他到另一個地方，也許是夜總會，他可以看人跳舞或自己跳舞。

After a while, they took him to another place for just enjoyment——listening to music, watching theater, and things like that. Many days went by and on and on like this——always eating, sleeping, making merry, and nothing else.

過一會兒，又帶他去另一個地方享受——聽音樂或看電影之類。許多日子都這樣消磨度過，總是吃、睡、玩樂而已。

So the man began to feel a little bit "itchy". He said, "Well, can you give me some work to do? I'd like to do something."

所以，那個人開始覺得有點癢癢的，他說：“可以給我一些工作做嗎？我想做點事?！?/div>

The attendent was very sad and said, "I am sorry. We have no work for you here. With this I cannot help you."

然而，隨從卻抱歉地說：“抱歉！我們這里沒工作給你，這個忙我?guī)筒簧??！?/div>

So the man said, "My God! If I have nothing to do, this could be like in hell."

那個人說：“老天，沒事做，那不是像在地獄一樣嗎？”

So the attendent said, "Where do you think you are now?"

隨從說：“不然你以為自己在哪兒呢！”

The King and a Bag of Gold

國王和一袋金子

There once lived a king who liked listening to jokes. "I'll give a bag full of gold," he said, "to the person who can tell the best story. There is only one rule. It must be a story which I can not believe, and if I cannot believe it, I will give him the gold."

從前一個國王，他喜歡聽笑話。他說，“誰能講最好的故事，我就送給他滿滿一袋金子。但有一個規(guī)則：這個故事必須是我不信的。如果我不信他的故事，我就給他金子?！?/div>

People came tp the king from all parts of the country. They brought strange and wonderful stories. The king sat in his place and listened to all the stories. He enjoyed them very much, but to each person he said, "I can believe the story. It could happen and may be true. So I won't give you the bag of gold."

人們從四面八方來見國王，帶來了許多新奇而精彩的故事。國王坐在座位上聽了所有的故事。他很喜歡這些故事，但他對每一個人都說：“我相信這個故事。這種事可能發(fā)生而且或許就是真的，所以我不能給你這些金子?！?/div>

At last a poor old man came to the palace. He was carrying a huge stone jar. The old man went into the king's room and said, "Oh, King, your good father was once a poor man and my father was rich. They were very good friends. My father gave your father a large jar, like this one, and it was full of gold. Your father promised to give back the gold when he became rich. And I want the gold."

最后，一個可憐的老頭來到王宮，他帶著一只巨大的壇子。老頭走進國王的房間說：“哦，國王，你那和藹可親的父親曾經是一個窮人，而我父親曾經很富有，他們是好朋友。我父親給了你父親一個這樣的壇子，并且裝滿了金子。你父親曾經許諾說，當他富有后會把金子還回來的。我現在把金子要回來?！?/div>

The king said, "I don't believe that story. The jar is very big. There isn't enough gold in all my country to fill the jar with. My father didn't tell me anything about the jar of gold."

國王說：“我不相信這個故事。這壇子這么大，就是全國所有的金子也裝不滿。我父親沒告訴我任何關于這攤金子的事?！?/div>

"All right," the old man said, "Never mind. If you don't believe the story, give me the bag of gold, please."

“好吧，”老頭說，“不要緊。如果你不信這個故事，請給我一袋金子?！?/div>

The king remembered the rule, and he had to give the old man the bag of gold.

國王這時候想起了規(guī)則，他不得不給老頭一袋金子。
