sophisticated: having a refined knowledge of the ways of the world cultivated especially through wide experience，也就是說見過世面的，有閱歷的。這是一個很容易被誤譯的單詞，字典里給出的解釋是“詭辯的, 久經(jīng)世故的”，但其實這個單詞可以是褒義詞（如同在這句話的解釋），也可以是貶義詞，解釋為deprived of native or original simplicity，即“老于世故”的，但后者出現(xiàn)的情況不是很多。

Serena 去找Chuck, 正好碰見那個日本空姐，于是就聊起Chuck糜爛的sex life，只見Chuck一臉郁悶狀，Serena恍然大悟，原來Chuck最近在sex方面是“屢敗屢戰(zhàn)，屢戰(zhàn)屢敗”。Chuck解釋說是因為有些 blockage，他想到了找Blair來clear the pipes.

關(guān)鍵的地方來了。blockage本意是阻塞，你家的水管堵住了，就用blockage.而clear the pipe就是疏通管道。上文和下文是對應(yīng)的，但這里用的是字面意思背后的metaphor. pipe, 可以用來指dick(omg, 希望沒有人再用Dick這個英文名字了)，而clear the pipe就是指you receive an orgasm from a girl; usually its when you haven't received sex in a while. 另外說一下，pipe這個單詞除了指dick, 還可以用來指blow job, 來源據(jù)說是法語里一摸一樣拼寫的pipe, 讀做"peep". (恩…這些單詞都是當(dāng)年看sex and the city學(xué)來的)

至于后面Serena叫Chuck不要把Blair當(dāng)作是sexual Drano, 這里的Drano是一個排水管清潔劑的品牌，人家的作用就是用來clear the pipes的。

He stood me up: 放我鴿子，讓我空等一場。后面Vanessa看見Catherine和Nate在一起，就質(zhì)問Is that the reason you keep canceling on me? 這句話也可以表示放鴿子的意思。

另外stand up for sb.可以解釋為support. 后面有一個場景，Dan在公園里遇到三個小妹妹，很老成的在評論Dan與Serena復(fù)合的事情，其中有個小姑娘說Your whole breakup? We're on your side. 這句We’re on your side意思是“我們站在你這一邊”，和stand up for是一個意思。

order in在這里是指點酒店的room service, 在房間里吃飯。日常生活中這個單詞表示“叫外賣”。take out則是表示外帶的意思，在快餐店里點餐，服務(wù)員會問你for here or to go, 或者for here or take-out? for here就是堂吃，to go或者take-out就是外帶。而打包叫做wrap up，至于問服務(wù)員要打包的盒子，那就叫做doggy bag了。至于為什么要叫狗食袋，一種說法是最早美國人在餐廳吃剩下的東西，不好意思打包，怕別人覺得自己小氣，于是就會問服務(wù)員要一個袋子，說是帶回去給自己家的狗吃。久而久之，doggy bag就變成打包袋/盒的代名詞了。

不要小看I'm in這個短語，雖然簡單，用處卻很多。在這里表示“你是對的，就聽你的吧”，在其他地方還可以表示“加入一個團(tuán)隊，加入一個活動”。比如你朋說周末組織一場籃球賽，你打算參加，你就可以說I'm in. 又比如你們謀劃什么大行動，你大義凜然的說“算上我”，那也叫做I'm in.
