《呼嘯山莊》是英國女作家勃朗特姐妹之一艾米莉·勃朗特的作品。小說描寫吉卜賽棄兒希斯克利夫被山莊老主人收養(yǎng)后，因受辱和戀愛不遂，外出致富，回來后對與其女友凱瑟琳結(jié)婚的地主林頓及其子女進行報復(fù)的故事。全篇充滿強烈的反壓迫、爭幸福的斗爭精神，又始終籠罩著離奇、緊張的浪漫氣氛。它開始曾被人看做是年青女作家脫離現(xiàn)實的天真幻想，但結(jié)合其所描寫地區(qū)激烈的階級斗爭和英國的社會現(xiàn)象，它不久便被評論界高度肯定，并受到讀者的熱烈歡迎。根據(jù)這部小說改編的影視作品至今久演不衰。

作者簡介：

艾米莉·勃朗特（1818-1848），19世紀英國小說家、詩人，英國文學(xué)史上著名的“勃朗特三姐妹”之一。這位女作家在世界上僅僅度過了三十年便默默無聞地離開了人間，然而她唯一的一部小說《呼嘯山莊》卻奠定了她在英國文學(xué)史以及世界文學(xué)史上的地位。此外，她還創(chuàng)作了193首詩，被認為是英國一位天才型的女作家。

她生性獨立、豁達、純真、剛毅、熱情而又內(nèi)向，頗有男兒氣概，酷愛自己生長其間的荒原，平素在離群索居中，除去手足情誼，最喜與大自然為友，從她的詩和一生行為，都可見她天人合一宇宙觀與人生觀的表現(xiàn)，有人因此而將她視為神秘主義者。其實人與自然的關(guān)系，從來就是人類文明史上重要的命題，艾米莉不過是步歷代哲人、隱者、科學(xué)家、藝術(shù)家后塵，通過生活和創(chuàng)作，身體力行地探尋人與自然的關(guān)系。
