cry, shout, exclaim, roar, scream, shriek, yell, call
這些動詞的共同含義是“喊”或“叫”。
cry : 一般指因恐懼、痛苦、驚奇等而喊叫。
He cried that he had found the key.(他大聲地叫喊找到了鑰匙。)
shout : 指有意識地高聲喊叫,常用于提出警告、發(fā)命令或喚起注意等。
She shouted to attract their attention.(她大聲叫嚷以引起他們的注意。)
exclaim : 多指因高興、憤怒、痛苦、驚訝等突發(fā)感情而高聲喊叫。
She exclaimed in delight when she saw the presents.(她見到禮品高興得叫了起來。)
roar : 指發(fā)出大而深沉的聲音、吼叫或咆哮。
Who dares to answer back when heroars like a lion?(當(dāng)他像獅子般地咆哮時(shí), 誰敢和他頂嘴?)
scream : 指因恐具、快樂或痛苦而發(fā)出的尖叫聲。
She screamed that there was a snake under the bed.(她大聲喊叫床下有蛇。)
shriek : 指因驚恐、痛苦等或其它感情而發(fā)出比scream更為尖銳、刺耳的叫聲。
They were all shrieking with laughter.(他們都發(fā)出了尖銳的笑聲。)
yell : 多指求援、鼓勵(lì)時(shí)的呼叫。也可指因外界因素刺激而發(fā)出尖厲聲音。
The crowd yelled when the hometown team scored a touchdown.(當(dāng)他們自己的隊(duì)得了底線分時(shí), 人群高聲呼喊起來。)
call : 指大聲說話或喊叫,以引起某人的注意。
She called and called but no one came to her assistance.(她叫了又叫, 但沒有人來幫忙。)
